Makes excellent espresso and cappucino. Living in Seattle, this has already paid for itself. Highly recommend purchasing the metal tamper and the therma shot glasses with this since you can't fit a coffee mug under it. Ridiculously easy to operate and clean.

I have two of these, one in each house. Does an excellent job of frothing, but it takes a while to get the hang of it and get the consistency right. I have found the froth is much better when you use a stainless steel pitcher as opposed to ceramic or glass, don't know why that would make a difference but it does. It has started to leak a bit now, but since there is a deep tray to catch drippings, it's not a big problem. I use a tiny espresso cup to dispense the coffee and then add it to my mug after I put the froth in. All in all, I'm very happy with it. It makes a cappuccino that equals Starbucks.

this make the most best espresso, i was needing the little extra something in the morning, i found it in this machine. it allows me to get the most from my coffee. my husband has even started drinking coffee at home instead of the coffee shops. he say that this is awesome he love that we can buy the Starbucks bag of coffee in the stored,grind it up Turkish blend which is very fine. it really taste wonderful. the only thing is i want one for my job, i have a kitchen there and we drink coffee all day. this is awesome,i wish that it made eight cups at a time.

First of all, this machine is physically superior to all other super-automatic brands I checked out. The top line Jura, Saeco, and Krups are all wrapped in plastic with steel accents in front while the Delonghi is fully encased in steel. The engineering is very solid and it has a gorgeous presence in the kitchen.
If you like Cappuccino, you will love this machine and its truly one touch operation. However, you must use proper sized Cappuccino cups to get the full experience. The machine is tuned to froth the milk and add the espresso shot so that froth extends about 1/4 inch above the edge of the cup. You can change these settings, but out-of-the-box it is perfect. I have never had a better Cappuccino anywhere - even Italy. (I use Illy medium roast beans). The milk container is incredibly convenient. I had a Jura Capresso F9 for a year before it went bad - the company replaced it with a refurbished machine. I had upgraded to the Jura from a Saeco which was an absolute nightmare.
Ultimately I enjoyed my Jura but hated that none of the parts were user-serviceable and I had to rely onthe cleaning tablets to ensure that the machine was 'clean'.
After seeing the Delonghi in a William-Sonoma store demo I thought it was great - fully integrated single-touch operation and it was SOOOO much quieter than my Jura. I decided to upgrade.
Setup was easy and all the pre-programmed touch buttons seemed to fill to the right quantities. I was nervous after seeing a couple reviews on here complaining about the milk container, but I've not had a problem since and I use the machine 3-4 times daily without any issue.

I had to return two of these machines - on the first, the milk pitcher was almost impossible to install on the machine - it worked a few times, then started sticking terribly. Then it stopped recognizing that the pitcher was installed at all, thereby making a latte impossible. On the second machine it only worked once. I spoke with DeLonghi and they acknowledge that they had heard about this problem from other people. As with the earlier DeLonghi models, the milk doesn't get hot enough. With this added quirk, I'd avoid this machine until they get it straightened out.

We just got this machine over the holidays and have been more than impressed. In fact, we're down-right addicted to it. It truly is very easy to use and makes great espressos, lattes and cappuccinos (kudos to Nespresso for excellent pod quality). Has completely replaced Starbucks for us, which has resulted in big savings and convenience. Also perfect for dinner parties, where we can make drink after drink after drink with practically no effort.
The only issues I've found is that it does drip a little after making drinks, which leads to some clean-up, but pretty minor. And, those pod costs do add up, but that's the case with any machine and still a fraction of what you would pay at Starbucks.
Others have complained about the temperature of the drinks, and it is a little cooler than I would like for the first drink. However, I found that running the "clean" mode on the milk container before making the drinks helps heat up the tubes and makes for hotter... Read more

If you enjoy coffee-only drinks, it works well. For larger (and milk-based) drinks, there are a few issues that made me return this machine: - Frother is difficult to insert. The rubber seals are tight, and you have to push it in forcefully at times. I had the feeling that the seals or the plastic connectors might break at some point. - Milk doesn't come out warm enough. Unfortunatelly, I tried for 2 weeks to adjust this by pre-warming the milk in the microwave and all the other tricks out there. It helps. But it's another step which can add to the preparation time. - If you like to use farily tall mugs, the mug has to be narrow (diameter < 3 inches), which is not easy to find. - You have to be very meticulous with cleaning the frother: rinse with steam, then rinse with water, otherwise it WILL clog.

My wife and I have had this unit for about 5 months now and we really love the coffee it makes: full-flavored and a little foamy (we don't use milk), just like a coffee bar in Italy. The small size of the unit is a big plus in our smaller kitchen. I really have only 3 complaints. First, the unit is LOUD while brewing. If you're the only one up on a weekend morning and you fire this thing up, you'll soon have company. Second, be careful not to overfill the water tray. We used to fill it almost to the top but would later find water leaking out of the machine and all over the countertop. So now we fill it less and the problem went away. Third, as a colorblind person I find the small, red "low water level" indicator to be almost invisible. I really wish manufacturers would stop putting red, green and amber indicators on devices so that colorblind people could see them. But the bottom line is that if you like Italian-style coffee bar kind of coffee, this is the unit for you.
